'America's Next Top Model' Contestant Shot With Assault Rifle, In Critical Condition

A south Texas shooting has killed two men, and left one former reality star in critical condition.

Brandy Rusher, who appeared on season 4 of America’s Next Top Model, was seriously wounded when someone fired nearly 20 shots from an automatic rifle at a crowd in Houston.

The incident took place outside an apartment complex. There was some sort of argument going on, but no one thought it’d escalate to this.

“I heard the first round and just took off running,” said one neighbor. “And you could hear, I could hear those shells dropping to the ground. He just shot them down like puppies in the street.”

The man pulled the gun out of his car's trunk and fired between 15 and 18 rounds before speeding off. According to a sheriff’s office spokesperson, “We do know it was an AR-style rifle, an AK type or an AR 15.”

Two men were killed in the incident and four others wounded, including Brandy, who’d recently been working as a hair stylist. During her stint on ANTM, she was known for a fiery and confrontational personality, which she hoped to work on in the years following her appearance.

“The show gave me an inside look allowing me to have a reason to strive harder,” she said. “I was able to see how I was perceived and now I have a point to prove how I have changed and the areas that I have been working on.”

Police are currently searching for the suspect in the shooting. There are no updates on Brandy’s condition except that she’s in critical condition.
